Summer Festivals Near Sneads Ferry

It’s almost summer, and you know what means—summer festival season is here! At The Preserve at Tidewater, we have a lot to look forward to over the next few months. Not only do we have our own famous festival right here in Sneads Ferry, but our convenient location means it’s easy to attend many fun events up and down the coast. Whether you love singing the blues, eating shrimp, sipping wine, ogling classic cars, or the celebrating the USA, our summer festival schedule has something for everyone. Mark your calendars for following festivals, and you’ll have the best summer yet!

Rims on the River, May 19-21st

Rims on The River is a vintage car and hot rod show that takes place in Downtown Wilmington, and occurs each year on the second to last week of May. The show also features a live concert, local food and drinks, and a pinup girl contest. This fun and unique event is free to attend. If you own a vintage car and want to show it off, you can register your vehicle in advance for $10, or $15 the day of the show.

Cape Fear Blues Festival, June 23-25th

The Cape Fear Blues Festival is a cultural fixture in coastal North Carolina! This year’s impressive lineup includes touring blues artists, noted regional performers, and talented local blues musicians performing in a variety of genres. Hosted by two of Wilmington’s premier blues music venues (the Rusty Nail Saloon and Ted’s Fun on the River) this three-day all-blues celebration features live concerts, a blues workshop, an all-day blues jam, and more. Music lovers will want to make their calendars now!

Annual Onslow County Freedom Festival, July 4th

Celebrate America with this patriotic festival! Naturally, there will be an amazing firework display at 9PM. But there will be plenty of fun earlier in the day, too! From food and drinks, to arts and crafts, to amusement rides, petting zoos, and a car show—this festival has something for everyone! Stop by for some free fun and don’t forget to wear your red, white, and blue!

Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival, August 12 & 13

This year, the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival celebrates its 46th year. It began to honor the local fishing community, but has since grown over the years. Today it draws crowds of more than 10,000 people annually, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome so many people to our beautiful fishing village. The two-day festival includes a parade, live music, a shrimp heading contest, fireworks, a beer and wine tent, a car show, military exhibits, arts and crafts, delicious fair food, and of course lots and lots of shrimp! If you attend any summer events in coastal North Carolina, the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival should be high on your list. It’s a wonderful display of a community that cherishes our past, present, and future.

Have a great summer!
