When you move to a brand-new city, it can take a while to get settled in – even if that place is as idyllic as southeastern North Carolina. Not only do you have to unpack and decorate your new home, you also need to find a new favorite grocery store, the fastest way to get to the public library, and where the best free parks are located. While you can ask your new neighbors and take your time exploring, there’s another strategy for learning your way around your new town: social media!
At this point in time, many cities and their citizens are active on social media, and following the right accounts is a great way to get the inside scoop on what’s happening around you. We love the library! Between the books, the movies, the music, and the great events it’s an integral part of our community. Run by Onslow County Tourism, this organization will let you know about all the fun things there are to do in Onslow County, Jacksonville, and the surrounding areas. Give them a follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. And don’t forget to use the hashtag #OnlyInOnslow when sharing your posts!Â
The City of Jacksonville Â
The closest big city to Sneads Ferry, where The Preserve at Tidewater is located, has a great Twitter feed. They do a nice job of sharing fun community events and other important information that makes life in Onslow a little bit easier. If you’re on Twitter, you’ll absolutely want to follow them.
What’s Up WilmingtonÂ
One of the most popular Instagram accounts in nearby Wilmington, What’s Up Wilmington is a great account to follow if you love eye candy. Their photos feature beautiful beach scenes and great meals that can be found all over the Port City. They also do a great job of promoting local businesses and events, which is a great way to stay busy and have fun.Â
